International Convention Centre hosts National Meeting of Brazilian Association of Convention and Trade Centres

30/06/2015

The International Convention Centre situated in João Pessoa was the chosen venue for this year’s national meeting of the Brazilian Association of Convention and Trade Centre (Abraccef). The event which brings together the main convention centres and public and private exhibitions in Brazil is designed to intensify and consolidate closer relations between enterprises. Currently, the events sector accounts for 4.2% of Brazils GDP and generates 3.8 million direct and indirect jobs. In Paraíba, the sector accounts for up to 2% of the state GDP.

The meeting also seeks to promote modern management and generation of business opportunities, expanding partnerships and debates through the exchange of experience and discussion on best practices in the management of convention and exhibition centres.

The Secretary of tourism and economic development of Paraíba Mr Laplace Guedes stated that this debate is conducive to the alignment of actions between executives. He said the government understands that the business tourism and corporate travel market is one of the segments of tourism that is growing the fastest worldwide and there is a need to prepare the spaces that host events. He went on to say that the state of Paraíba is a main reference in this area.
